Abstract

Workplace bullying and harassment encompass harmful behaviors that affect individuals and organizations negatively. Recognizing, preventing, and addressing these issues is essential for fostering a healthy, productive, and inclusive work environment. The prevention of workplace bullying and harassment is a critical area of focus for organizations aiming to create a safe and healthy work environment.


This paper is a conceptual review aimed at providing an overview of key considerations in preventing workplace bullying and harassment. The paper highlights the types of bullying and harassment and the significance in its prevention of workplace bullying and harassment. The paper also explores the conceptual underpinnings of workplace bullying and harassment prevention.


Past researches reveal the impacts of bullying and harassment at workplaces. This review points out the psychological, emotional, and physical consequences for victims, as well as the effects on team dynamics, productivity, and employee morale are areas that workplace bullying and harassment usually affects.


Power imbalances, organizational culture, lack of awareness, inadequate policies and procedures, ineffective communication, and conflicts within the workplace are some underlying factors that contribute to workplace bullying and harassment.
Developing comprehensive policies and procedures, providing training and awareness programs, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture, establishing reporting mechanisms, and promoting leadership accountability amongst others are strategies for prevention and intervention.
